Netflix celebrates 10 years in Thailand as it continues to put a premium on local storytelling for worldwide audiences. In a recent press event, the streaming giant invited government officials, filmmakers, and press members to share their impact in the country.
The event emphasized Netflix’s investment in Thai culture to highlight storytelling. With an investment of 200 million dollars, Netflix was able to develop 20 original Thai shows and films, with 13,500 cast and crew employed, building a strong foundation for Thailand’s creative community and culture. As of 2025, 15 Thai originals were included in the Global Top 10 Non-English list and reported over 750 million viewing hours on the platform.
“Netflix’s investment contributes to Thailand’s creative economy, highlighting the scale of our support and its impact in creating jobs, building capabilities, and expanding local opportunities,” shared Malobika Banerji, Netflix’s Director of Content – Southeast Asia, in her report.
With over 500 production professionals currently being trained by Netflix in Thailand, it’s clear that the investment is more than just for entertainment, but to build up the local film and production industry to showcase more of what makes Thailand unique and amazing.
