The National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) has officially joined the “Be Juan Tama” advocacy campaign, an inspiring initiative that reframes the familiar “Juan Tamad” archetype into a wiser and more intentional “Juan Tama,” who chooses what is right.

As GMA Network marks a milestone in its storied 75-year legacy, its commitment to nurturing thoughtful, meaningful Filipino media has found new strength in this initiative. Launched this August 26, 2025, at the Network’s Quezon City headquarters, “Be Juan Tama” underscores the vital role of entertainment in promoting mental, emotional, and social growth among viewers.

NCCT joined the campaign to work with GMA, ensuring child-appropriate and value-driven programming. Their involvement aligns with the campaign’s goal of promoting content that educates and uplifts its audience, especially the Filipino children.

GMA Entertainment Group Officer-in-Charge Cheryl Ching-Sy shared in her message during the launch that “Be Juan Tama is a movement to show that learning through entertainment is one of the most powerful ways to instill values, inspire knowledge, and impart life lessons that uplift lives.”

The centerpiece of the campaign is the “GMA Masterclass: Be Juan Tama Conversation Series,” which will tour universities nationwide in partnership with GMA Regional TV and Synergy. The series will include a team-up of talk shows and infotainment programs such as “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” “i-Bilib,” and “Amazing Earth,” joined by their respective hosts, Boy Abunda, Chris Tiu, and Dingdong Dantes.

With the support of NCCT, GMA Network strengthens its promise to produce media that enlightens and empowers. In a media landscape congested with nigh unlimited content, “Be Juan Tama” stands as a light in the dark, addressing the challenges of today’s generation and pursuing a more educational entertainment alternative for the youth.
