Vietnam has a unique geography. Bordered by China in the north, and Laos and Cambodia in the west, the country’s entire length is bounded by the coast, giving it a vibrant coastal culture. Hanoian artist Trong Anh Vu explores that beauty with his Light and Memories exhibit at the Hà Nội Old Restaurant this October.

Trong Ahn has been making art for two decades, managing the Hoi An Art House Gallery in Hoi An, where he helps organize, connect, and give local artists avenues to showcase their works in villas, resorts, and destinations located in Central Vietnam. Throughout his career, Trong Ahn has earned awards from the Quảng Nam Provincial Fine Arts and Literature Association and transcended borders through his individual exhibit, Wird zur Traumwelt (Dream World) in Koblenz, reaching Germany in 2018.

Now, Trong Ahn’s Light and Memories exhibit is a culmination of his 23 years as an artist, fearturing 50 of his pieces from 2024 to 2025. The themes explore the breathtaking scenery of Vietnam’s coastal life, depicting the land and people through a strong command of colors and hues that depict real-life wonder.

“I link past memories by painting on canvas with light, colours, nostalgia and love. I snap the most beautiful moment of sunlight to reappear it on painting,” Ahn shared in an interview with Vietnam News.

Visit Light and Memories at Hà Nội Old Restaurant in Hội An from October 10 to 30 to experience his breathtaking and masterful art pieces for free.
