What would the world look like, unfettered by the intervention of humans? This is the idea behind “Subterra: The Untouched Earth,” an exhibit at Jude Tiotuico’s Industria at Greenbelt Residences.
The exhibit features the works of five artists—Jude Tiotuico, Olivia d’Aboville, Leeroy New, Lilianna Manahan, and Jinggoy Buensuceso—who have created pieces that reflect an exploration of untouched flora and fauna. From wall pieces, sculptures and installations—the exhibit captures different natural forms that shed light on art that feels alive and reminiscent of overgrowing plants and animals. The pieces explore the surreal forms of nature left unbothered, filled with color and folds of movement.
Jude Tiotuico’s installations create metallic surfaces of movement and transformation; Olivia d’Aboville’s textile sculptures of underwater ecology are a showcase of beauty in fragility; Leeroy New’s industrial pieces are adorned with ornaments of impossible and irregular shapes; Lilianna Manahan’s paintings evoke fantastical objects from a different time and place; and Jinggoy Buensuceso’s metalworks form natural shapes of wildlife made with unnatural components.
Catch “Subterra: The Untouched Earth” exhibit until October 31 at Industria Edition in The Residences at Greenbelt, Makati City.
