Filipino tattoo artists showed off their talents at the Singapore Ink Show 2025, held last October 10 to 12 at the Suntec City Convention Centre. These Pinoy powerhouses are paving the way for global recognition of Filipino tattoo artistry, showcasing years of passion and dedication in works ranging from full-back masterpieces to minimalist designs.
Among the local artists recognized at the event was Raymond Plandano, whose black and gray full-leg tattoo shows his mastery of the craft. His design was a powerful fusion of a dragon and Hanuman—the Hindu monkey deity—capturing kinetic energy through facial expressions and unique layouting. The precision he showcased earned him a second place finish in the Best of Show category.
Another highlight tattoo art piece was designed by Richard Silana, who gave a modern interpretation to classic Japanese motifs. His take on dragons and oni masks mixed grayscale design with vibrant colors, making the design elements pop out and creating great contrast. This earned him third place in the Best of Show category.
Emki Figuracion joins the list with her black and gray work leg tattoo. Every shadow and gradient shows precision, resulting in a small but stunning composition that captivated judges. Figuracion’s meticulous approach earned him the Champion title for Best in Small Piece (Black & Gray).
In contrast, Janessa Palaming brought softness and subtlety to the competition with her minimalist realism. Her bright design reminded everyone that tattoos can be both powerful in their simplicity. The piece earned her second place in the Best in Minimalist category.
Joko Dale Del Rosario took things to a wilder dimension with his new school horror fusion piece, featuring a hellish scene bursting with bold lines, fiery reds, and cartoon-inspired textures. Del Rosario’s creation landed him second place in the Best of Saturday category.
Together, these artists showcased the power of Filipino tattooing. From myth to minimalism, from subtle shading to vibrant explosions of color, their collective success at the Singapore Ink Show 2025 proves that Filipinos can conquer the modern tattooing space.
