Heads up, Cumberbuddies! Benedict Cumberbatch is starring in live stage recordings of the acclaimed stage plays Frankenstein and Hamlet by London’s National Theatre Live.
The recorded version of Frankenstein was captured live on stage in 2011 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the novel it was based on, and debuted in the Philippines in 2015. Directed by Academy Award®-winner Danny Boyle, the adaptation stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller in alternating roles as Dr. Frankenstein and the Creature. The recorded live play features Frankenstein’s bewildered creature as he is cast out into a hostile world by his maker. Met with cruelty wherever he goes, the creature is determined to track down his creator to make a striking decision.
Another hit making its return to cinemas is Hamlet, recorded in 2015 at the Barbican Theater in London and directed by Lyndsey Turner. Benedict Cumberbatch portrays the titular role as he dives deep into a war where families are torn apart. To avenge his father’s death, Hamlet goes into a frenzy that tests his mettle.
In partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and Ayala Malls Cinemas, National Theatre Live is set to screen these recorded plays at select Ayala Malls Cinemas this November 25, 6 PM, so visit the CCP website to learn more about the recorded plays and check out sureseats.com to reserve your tickets.
