In celebration of Vietnam’s independence and the merger between Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province, Japanese pianist and winner of the 2007 Long-Thibaud Competition, Hibiki Taura, will be performing in Hue, Da Nang for free.
Tamura is a world-renowned pianist who began playing the instrument when he was three years old. From then on, his talent was only cultivated as he grew older. He studied at Mozarteum University in Salzburg, an Austrian music school named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and now teaches at Kyoto University of the Arts in Japan.
In an interview with Viet Nam News, the Japanese General Consulate in Da Nang City, Mori Takero shared, “It also witnesses the successful merger of Đà Nẵng City and Quảng Nam Province, leading to the birth of a new Đà Nẵng City. We have been exploring many ways on what we, the Japanese community here, can do to celebrate them and express our gratitude to Đà Nẵng and Huế cities.”
In 2014, the annual Việt Nam-Japan Cultural Festival was hosted by the ancient towns of Da Nang and Hoi An, showing the forged strong cooperative relationship between Central Vietnam and Japan. Japan supported the Vietnamese region through key infrastructure projects, and various people have attended Japan’s schools and come back to their hometowns, contributing to the betterment of their respective hometowns.
Tamura’s performance will be on December 13 to 14 at Da Nang and Hue for free, marking his first solo show in central Vietnam.
