(UPDATED) Who doesn’t love fried chicken? Well, good news to all you chicken lovers out there, the largest chicken sandwich chain in the world is opening its first Asian store in Singapore!
Chick-fil-A was founded in 1973, and in half a century, the chain has opened more than 3,000 branches in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Now they’re expanding to Europe and Asia with branches in the United Kingdom (UK) and Singapore, respectively. Alongside the international expansion, Chick-fil-A announced that it is donating $25,000 to non-profit organizations in celebration of the new branch openings, and as part of their vision to end community hunger.
In a statement about the expansion, Andrew T. Cathy, chief executive officer of Chick-fil-A, Inc., said, “Expanding in both Europe and Asia is a meaningful milestone for Chick-fil-A. The investments we’re making in the U.K. and Singapore not only present opportunities for our business, but are also a chance for us to bring what makes Chick-fil-A special to new places – great food and remarkable hospitality, our unique franchise model, and the positive impact we have in communities.”
Chick-fil-A is expected to provide 70 to 120 new jobs for local hires in Singapore, where they will also be broadening their Chick-fil-A Shared Table program where owner-operators can donate any surplus food to local nonprofits. To date, the program itself has helped provide more than 35 million meals to communities worldwide.
The menu consists of the Original Chick-fil-A Chicken (S$6.80 for the sandwich, S$11.80 for a meal), Chick-fil-A Deluxe (S$8 for the sandwich, S$13 for a meal), and Grilled Chicken (S$9.50 for the sandwich, S$14.50 for a meal), all of which have a spicy option. There are also salads, nuggets, waffle potato fries, soft-serve ice cream and milkshakes in vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and cookies & cream flavors. You can even ask for Chick-fil-A sauces free of charge including the original tangy and smoky Chick-fil-A sauce, sweet & spicy Sriracha sauce, garden herb ranch sauce, barbecue sauce, and honey mustard sauce.
Chick-fil-A is set to open in Singapore on December 11 at Bugis+. The opening hours will follow the usual of Monday to Saturday and will be closed on Sundays.
