From Films to Games: Here’s Everything Revealed at the Game Awards 2025

Aside from giving game developers the recognition they deserve, the 2025 Game Awards saw some exciting reveals for games and film. Check out everything that went down below. But be warned, some of the trailers will have violence, gore or spoilers, so proceed with caution.

First off, from the same studio that created Baldur’s Gate 3—Larian Studios—comes a cinematic trailer for the upcoming game, Divinity, their “biggest, most ambitious RPG yet.” While no details have been revealed yet about the game, Larian clarified that it is not Divinity: Original Sin 3, but a brand new game from the same franchise. 

Next up is Remedy Entertainment’s Control Resonant, the sequel to Control. Set in Manhattan, New York, away from the Oldest House of the first game, Control Resonant follows Dylan Faden, the brother of Jesse—the protagonist from the first game. As Dylan wakes up from his coma in the Oldest House, he must look for his missing sister while stopping otherworldly forces from destroying the world. The game is an action-RPG, deviating from its action-adventure genre from the last game. Add the game to your wishlist for Playstation 5 as it arrives this 2026.

Star Wars fans, this next announcement is for you. From the collaboration of Lucasfilm Games and Arcanaut Studios comes the new single-player action RPG game, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic. While not a direct sequel to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, this game is created by director of the original KOTOR game and the Mass Effect trilogy, Casey Hudson.

Another Star Wars release was announced for 2026, and this time, you get to race in the outer realm of a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: Galactic Racer is set after the fall of the Empire, where an underground racing circuit sponsored by criminal syndicates rises in notoriety. The developer is Fuse Games, a well-known studio behind popular racing games like Need for Speed and Paradise Burnout

From the developers of Titanfall and Apex Legends comes the birth of a PvP raid shooter game entitled Highguard. Players will have the opportunity to ride, fight, and raid, as wardens and arcane gunslingers battle it out  for control of the region. You can play it for free starting January 26, 2026 on Steam, Playstation 5, and Xbox.

Another big announcement is a classic fighting game coming to cinemas, Street Fighter. Alongside all-new character posters, Paramount Pictures released a teaser trailer during the Game Awards showing snippets of fights to look forward to when the film comes out in October 2026.

Lara Croft is back with a whole new adventure in Northern India. Tomb Raider: Catalyst is the latest game featuring our favorite adventurer and archaeologist as she races to stop the most notorious treasure hunters from around the world from unleashing a catastrophic event. The game will be available in 2027 for Playstation 5.

The wait is over! After seven years, the classic action platformer game by Nintendo is back with Mega Man: Dual Override. Play as the titular character and blast off in a new set of futuristic frontiers in 2027 on the Nintendo Switch, Steam, Playstation 4 and 5, and Xbox.

FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and agent Leon Kennedy return for the 9th installment of Resident Evil. While investigating the mysterious disappearances that tie back to Umbrella, Grace is kidnapped by an Umbrella associate, while Leon attempts to rescue her. “Both of their journeys and unique gameplay styles intertwine into a heart-stopping, emotional experience that will chill you to your core,” Capcom revealed in a statement. Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

Blizzard Entertainment announced an expansion for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred coming to Steam, Playstation, Xbox, and more in April 2026. The release includes another mystery class that carries over the nostalgia from Diablo 2, and a long-awaited region for players of the game. You can also play a new Paladin class in the game right now.

Montreal-based Invoke Studios unveiled a teaser for a new open-world adventure game set in the D&D universe entitled Warlock: Dungeons and Dragons. Alongside it is the announcement of a gameplay reveal by summer of 2026, and the official launch of the game in 2027.

From the veteran developers of Mass Effect, Archetype Entertainment, comes a new game titled, Exodus. This sci-fi adventure follows Jun Aslan, a scrap-seller turned savior of humanity when it’s revealed that he can wield the celestial tech needed to find a cure for humanity.

No Law is an upcoming game by Neon Giant and Krafton, combining Cyber Punk 77’s edge with a dash of Max Payne’s neo-noir themes in a first-person shooter game filled with action, sleaze, and city slick. No release date has been announced, but it will be available on Playstation 5.

A trailer for Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000 was also revealed, unveiling a new installment in the game series. Players can choose from one of three factions—Space Marines, Orks, Aeldari, or Astra Militarum—in an all out war in the stars. The game will be available on Playstation 5, Xbox, and Steam, although no release date has been announced yet as of writing.

Become a masterful pilot when you play Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, coming to gaming platforms in 2026. Bandai Namco revealed a trailer for the latest game under the Ace Combat series after seven years. Players will get to explore realistic skies while interacting with the crew on-ground. It’s the first game of the series to be built on Unreal Engine 5, which takes the game to new heights for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Have you ever heard of the Saros cycle? It happens approximately every 18 years, 11 days, and 8 hours, when the sun, moon, and earth align for a solar or lunar eclipse. Saros by Housemarque follows this premise, following the main character Arjun Devraj as he wakes up on the beach every time the eclipse happens. It’s part of the Returnal game series and will release in April 2026.

Fan of DC and Lego? This next game is for you. Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a cute mix of both worlds. As chaos looms in Gotham, Batman needs all the Lego-sized back-up he can get! Enjoy playing as the Dark Knight and his superhero friends on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 29, 2026.

The creators of 2015’s best horror game, Soma, have unveiled an upcoming project that will fuel your nightmares. Ontos is a sci-fi thriller by Frictional Games, featuring the voice of renowned actor Stellan Skarsgård, that has players stepping into a first-person horror adventure that pushes the limits of reality and humanity. The game releases this 2026 so stay tuned for updates.

Inspired by Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls, Decrepit is a new Soulslike first-person horror that puts players in an undead castle they have to escape. Created by Jämmerdal Games, test your might and wit as you memorize maze-like corridors and where they lead, or die by the hands of the undead lurking in the shadows. Stay tuned for more details, as the release date is yet to be announced.

A new type of bond forms between zombies and humans. From NetEase-owned studio GPTRACK50, Stupid Never Dies is a new RPG game that puts you in the shoes of Davy—a zombie at the bottom of the monster hierarchy—as he attempts to bring the frozen human, Julia, back to life. Developers of Devil May Cry and Resident Evil are attached to the game, so you know it’s going to be one hell of an experience. The game launches this 2026 on Playstation 5 and Steam.

Last but not the least is Capcom’s newest release, the sci-fi action game Pragmata, Play as Hugh and his android companion Diana as they work together to reach the lunar research station and escape the clutches of other androids along the way. The game launches on PlayStation 5 this April 24, 2026.
