The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Iceland, the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand, and the Embassy of Iceland in Tokyo invites locals and foreigners to express and explore the strong ties cultivated between Thailand and Iceland through a photo contest with the theme “The 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand – Iceland: Friendship Beyond the Horizon.”

Back in 2022, the Ambassador of Thailand to Norway Vimolbajra Ruksakiati met up with the Ambassador of Iceland to Norway  Högni S. Kristjánsson, discussing the revival of tourist exchanges between the two countries just after the pandemic. Despite their distance, the two countries have maintained a strong relationship and continued cooperation.

To mark the 50th year of diplomatic ties between Thailand and Iceland, the photo contest was organized, inviting photographers to submit photos that meet any of the three themes: tourism, economy, society, culture, and ways of life in Iceland; products or objects representing Icelandic culture in Thailand; friendship, mutual understanding, and people-to-people connections that reflect closeness and bonds transcending geographical boundaries. The contest offers over 160,000 THB ($5,130) in cash prizes, to be awarded to 1 grand winner, 1 first runner-up, 1 second runner-up, and 10 honorable mentions.

For more information on the photo contest and the additional criteria, you can visit the Royal Photographic Society of Thailand website. Let’s celebrate the beautiful diplomatic relationship between both countries through photographs!
