Pinoy Pop boyband SB19 has recently launched the music video for their song of hope ‘Ikako’ dedicated to brave frontliners amid the challenging times brought by COVID-19 pandemic.
Ikako (Ikaw at Ako or You and I) is an inspiring tribute song written and arranged by the group’s leader, Sejun, and performed with other members, Stell, Ken, Justin, and Josh. The members of the group recorded their song from their respective homes.
Aside from the members singing, the music video also features clips and photos of frontliners fulfilling their duties.
“We believe in the power of Filipinos, the power to win any struggle. Today, we must face this battle until we overcome it. Until the end, please be happy and healthy. Once again, maraming salamat po for fighting COVID-19,” said SB19 on their official Facebook page.
The chorus of the song says: “O Sigurado, babangon tayo/ Kaya’ng lahat ikaw at ako / Wag kang susuko, magkasama tayo / Hanggang sa dulo ikaw at ako.”
In an online interview with Myx via Facebook Live, the members mentioned their inspiration in writing and singing Ikako.
“Since mayroong ECQ, the best thing to do is cheer the people who are trying to help the country [during the pandemic] so gumawa po ako ng kanta para sa frontliners natin para kahit paano hindi sila mawalan ng pag-asa [at] mapaghinaan ng loob,” said Sejun.
The music video has earned more than 394,301 views as of writing, and has gained praises from local and international fans and casual listeners.
