Vietnamese Designer Cong Tri Nguyen continues to wow Hollywood and the international fashion scene with his intricate and unique designs. Just last month, he dressed up Miley Cyrus for her performance in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon for her new song, The Midnight Sky. Miley was wearing a sequined black dress with a curvy cutout by the waist, meeting a high slit. The avant-garde little black dress is exactly what a Cong Tri design is known for — modern, sexy, and elegant.

Cong Tri is a legend in the Vietnamese fashion industry, being the first Vietnamese member of the Asian Couture Federation, an organization established to promote the designs and fashion across Asia and the world. In 2019, Cong Tri became the first Vietnam-based designer to grace the New York Fashion Week with his collection, with various Victoria’s Secret models like Lais Ribeiro and Jasmine Tookes walking his designs.

Cong Tri recently celebrated 20 years of his career in fashion with Cuc Im Lang, an art exhibit combining fashion and contemporary art. The exhibit also featured some of his artist friends’ works and showed his journey to being one of the biggest inspirations in the Vietnamese fashion industry.

Aside from dressing up pop star Miley Cyrus, Cong Tri’s designs have been worn by many celebrities in Hollywood including Nicole Richie, who made an appearance in the VMAs with a green mini dress which was part of Cong Tri’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection. Also this year, Jennifer Lopez wore a sheer Cong Tri robe for the double music video of her songs Pa’ Ti and Lonely.

And in this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Cong Tri wowed critics with his v-cut, feather-collared gown, worn by award-winning actress Sandra Oh. The dress was named one of the most glamorous dresses of the night by fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar in their list of Oscars after-party outfits.

Cong Tri’s designs from his Spring 2020 collection can be viewed at Vogue. He is currently based in Ho Chi Minh City with the label CONG TRI where shows off his unique, contemporary designs.
