Roll out that map, light a torch, and prepare to solve some puzzles because a new treasure is waiting to be discovered in a National Treasure spin-off series!
Variety reported that a new TV series based on the iconic “National Treasure” films has been ordered by Disney Plus for ten episodes.
The original films followed Benjamin Gates, a treasure seeker and aspiring cryptologist on a mission to discover hidden troves and mysteries from US history while escaping the authorities.
In this spin-off, instead of starring Nicolas Cage’s character Benjamin Gates, the new series will follow twenty-year-old DREAMer Jess Morales and her friends on an adventure to discover a hidden fortune. She will also learn about her mysterious family roots along the way.
Marianne and Cormac Wibberley, who wrote the first two films, will come back as the writer of the series, which will be directed by Mira Nair (Vanity Fair).
Don’t worry Nicholas Cage fans. Benjamin Gates’ treasure hunting adventure doesn’t end here because a third installment of the National Treasure films is also in the works headed by “Bad Boys for Life” screenwriter, Chris Bremner.
