Fans of Top Gun will finally be getting the sequel of the 1986 movie, more than 30 years after the first film’s release.
Tom Cruise will be reprising his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in Top Gun: Maverick, joined by an all-star cast of Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller, and Jon Hamm, with director Joseph Kosinski at the helm of the sequel.
Top Gun: Maverick follows Maverick Mitchell after more than 30 years of being in the Navy as one of their top aviators. However, Maverick’s life is again about to turn upside down as he trains Top Gun graduates for a special mission.

One of Top Gun’s most exciting aspects is the intense and exhilarating aircraft battle scenes. While the first film may have been breathtaking to watch, Top Gun: Maverick is expected to be even more so, with CGI-free footage of real fighter jets, as practical effects took center stage in the film’s production. Tom Cruise even went so far as to put his pilot’s license to use by performing some of the high flying stunts himself.
Top Gun: Maverick, originally scheduled for release on July 12, 2019, is now finally set to premiere on November 19, 2021.
