Looking for a new show to watch? How about a rock opera? Well look no further because the Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) hit musical Rak of Aegis will be available for streaming soon! This was announced in a Facebook post by PETA, saying that the musical will be streaming because “the world needs to hope again”.
The musical dates back all the way to 2014 and ran for an amazing seven seasons until 2019, just before the pandemic struck. Rak of Aegis was written by Liza Magtoto (book) and directed by the company’s artistic director Maribel Legarda, with musical direction, arrangement, and vocal direction by Myke Salomon. Other members of the creative team included Gio Gahol (choreographer), Mio Infante (set designer), Jonjon Villareal (lights designer), Carlo Villafuerte Pagunaling (costume designer), Maco Custodio (shoe designer), and Jo-ann Pamintuan (accessory designer).
Cast members from previous runs of Rak of Aegis include Aicelle Santos, Kim Molina, Shaira Opsimar and Princess Vire (Aileen), Isay Alvarez-Seña and Sweet Plantado-Tiongson (Mary Jane), Robert Seña and Renz Verano (Kiel), Kakai Bautista and Noemi Gonzales (Mercy), Myke Salomon, Poppert Bernadas, and Vince Lim (Kenny), Jerald Napoles, Pepe Herrera, and Joshua Bulot (Tolits), Ron Alfonso and Jimmy Marquez (Jewel), and Gie Onida and Rody Vera (Fernan).
The musical features throwback songs from the Filipino pop rock band Aegis, with the story following an aspiring YouTube star named Aileen as she helps her barangay face the challenge of combating health hazards and tough livelihood conditions caused by floods.
Shot from a previous live performance, the production will be available to stream on pay-per-view at Ticket2me.net for two weekends from July 31 to August 1 and from August 7 to 8, 2021.
