Watch the First 7 Minutes of Mortal Kombat

In case you haven’t heard yet, Mortal Kombat is getting a reboot and they just dropped the whole first 7 minutes of the upcoming film. What a treat for the fans! So grab yourself a little snack and get a sneak peek of Mortal Kombat below before it premieres on April 23 in theaters and on HBO Max.

Mortal Kombat is a film adaptation of the popular video game of the same name. In the video, we get a glimpse of the backstory of Bi-Han and Hanzo Hasashi, whose life is forever changed during an encounter with some uninvited visitors in his home.

The film will then move on to present day and follow up on the story of MMA fighter Cole Young, who is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt him down. You’ll just have to watch the whole film when it gets released and see how the story unfolds here on out.

The cast includes Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, Mehcad Brooks, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Joe Taslim, Hiroyuki Sanada and more, who will enter the Mortal Kombat tournament to save the world from Shang Tsung, Sub-Zero, Mileena and other supernatural kombatants.

Produced by James Wan (Aquaman, The Conjuring and Saw), Mortal Kombat will be the directorial debut of Simon McQuoid with the screenplay written by Greg Russo and Dave Callaham, based on the story by Oren Uziel and Russo. Catch the full trailer of the movie below!
