The sequel to the award-winning and record-breaking Marvel Studios film, Black Panther entitled “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” finally starts production.
Directed and co-written by Ryan Coogler, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is one of the highly anticipated films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as it will continue the story of the Kingdom of Wakanda even without Chadwick Boseman who passed away in 2020 due to colon cancer. His character, King T’Challa, will not be recast and won’t be “digitalize” by Marvel Studios.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in an interview with Variety that “It’s clearly very emotional without Chad… but everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.”
According to the reports, the sequel will explore further the Kingdom of Wakanda, and the characters originally appeared in the first film. It will feature the original cast of Black Panther including Letitia Wright as Shuri, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Danai Gurira as Okoye, and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross. They will also be joined by Tenoch Huerta (Narcos: Mexico) in an undisclosed role.
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is slated for release on July 8, 2022. Director Ryan Coogler is also developing an untitled Black Panther spin-off series for Disney+.
