Itaewon Class star Park Seo-Joon has officially joined the cast of The Marvels, the highly anticipated sequel to Captain Marvel (2019) and the continuation of the Disney+ show Ms. Marvel (2021). The Korean actor known for his roles in the K-drama What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim and the film Midnight Runners is reported to join the cast in the United States after wrapping up his role in the upcoming disaster-thriller Concrete Utopia.
The Marvels began filming of April this year and not long afterwards, rumors began circulating about Seo-Joon joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor’s part in the sequel is being kept secret until now, but fans heavily speculate that Seo-Joon will play Amadeus Cho aka Brawn, who is recognized as the most popular Korean superhero in the comics and known for acquiring Bruce Banner’s powers as Hulk. Though this seems like the most likely role to be given to the The Divine Fury star, it might be unlikely as the superhero has no strong connection to Captain Marvel or other members of the Marvels team.
Other theories place Park Seo-Joon as Marvel Boy. In the comics, the character encounters a villain who causes his ship to crash in New Jersey, which is supposedly where parts of The Marvels will be shot. Some also entertain the possibility that the actor won’t even be casted as a superhero but as a side character, perhaps an agent of S.W.O.R.D, another secret organization that’s meant to play an integral role in the film’s plot.
Park Seo-Joon will join Brie Larson and other characters related to Captain Marvel lore including Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel in The Marvels, which is set to premiere on November 11, 2022.
