One Piece fans, get ready as Netflix brings you one of the most popular anime and manga series in a live-action adaptation—and we finally have the official cast playing our favorite characters!
In a surprise announcement, Netflix reveal that Inaki Godoy will lead the cast as Monkey D. Luffy. He will be joined by Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Ronoa Zoro, Jacob Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.Netflix also announced that the One Piece live-action will have 10 episodes, but no official release date has been announced just yet.
“We can’t wait to set sail with this incredible and talented cast,” said the show’s executive producers Steven Maeda and Matt Owens in an official statement.
“Finding the appropriate people to portray the famous Straw Hats’ appearance, feelings, and behaviors was a lengthy and difficult (but exciting!) process. The quest for the One Piece is similar to the search for the One Piece itself. But we’ve finally discovered the ideal match! They’ve already started putting in a lot of effort to bring these characters to life. They’ll become as familiar and beloved as their manga equivalents. We’re all excited to show you what we’ve come up with! Onward to the next adventure,” they added.
