Marvel Studios recently released the trailer for their upcoming series, Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke. Watch it below.
Oscar Isaac plays Steven Grant and Marc Spector, the protagonists of the series. Yes, you’ve read it right, Isaac will be playing as two characters in one show. Although the trailer predominantly shows Isaac’s portrayal of Steven Grant, a gift shop employee later finds out that he experiences dissociative identity disorder, this leads Grant’s character to adopt the identity of the mercenary Marc Spector. Additionally, Steven (or Marc) becomes the titular superhero Moon Knight. Confused yet? Don’t worry, we’re sure the series will do a better job explaining this.
Opposite Isaac is Ethan Hawke who plays Arthur Harrow, a mysterious cult-like leader who knows something about Steven/Marc. While present in the comics, Arthur Harrow takes more of a minor role with the character only showing up in the 1985 issue of Moon Knight #2. While the source was not much to go on, Hawke talked about how he based his character on the infamous cult leader David Koresh during his appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers,
Lead actor Oscar Isaac also shared his experience with Moon Knight in an interview with Variety, saying “I found so much room to do things that I’ve never done before and had been curious about and wanting to do. I could not wait to get to set, and it was the biggest workload I’ve ever had in my career and most challenging; by the sheer amount of stuff we had to do in eight months, and even yet, I couldn’t wait to get to set and work”.
No doubt that this series will feature a unique take on the hero, so be sure to catch Moon Knight on Disney+ when it premieres on March 30, 2022.
