Heads up Pinoy Runners and K-Variety fans! GMA Network announced its collaboration with South Korean TV network SBS to co-produce the local adaptation of Running Man, South Korea’s longest-running hit variety show, and the cast was finally revealed through 24 Oras and on social media.
Ruru Madrid added that PH runners can expect the same energy they see in the original Running Man cast dynamics. “Kilala naman nating lahat ang mga Pinoy: hindi nagpapatalo. So, tayo, gagawin din natin ‘yun— hindi kami magi-inarte dito, magiging competitive kaming lahat dito.”
GMA reported that this first-time collaboration with SBS will open opportunities for Filipinos to watch world class entertainment. China and Vietnam have also adapted their own local spin-offs of the iconic variety show.
South Korea’s Running Man is one of the most popular reality game shows with over 580 episodes since 2010. It is known for its unique concept of finishing races through games and challenges, especially the famous Name Tag Elimination. The original cast members feature Yoo Jae Suk, Haha, Song Ji Hyo, Ji Suk Jin, Kim Jong Kook, Jeon So Min, and Yang Se Chan. Former members include actors Song Joong-ki and Lee Kwang-soo, and rapper Gary.
