Spotify is taking podcast streaming to the next level as the company expands their Video Podcast feature to more countries!
It was 2021 when Spotify announced that they are developing Video Podcasting as part of their features for podcast titles. The feature aims to give subscribers a chance to enhance their active listening experience on podcasts.
Spotify uploaded an episode titled, “Anchor: How to make a Video Podcast” sharing the step-by-step process on how to make and upload a Video Podcast.
If you remember, Spotify first launched this feature in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia and U.K. Aside from the audio-video format of the podcasts, this new developing feature also provides creator-listener interactions through Q&A and polls. This feature is now available to six non-English speaking countries including Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico and Spain.
Spotify is exerting efforts for its video podcasts feature to be a commercial success. Techcrunch.com says that the audio streaming app spent more than $1 billion on related acquisitions.
“Just as we’ve built a suite of innovative creation tools for podcasters, and we’re now doing the same for video content. Video podcasts are a historically underutilized medium, but one has the potential to grow by unlocking a new way to help audiences engage with their favorite podcasts. Video podcasts allow listeners to feel more connected to the creators behind their favorite shows, whether they’re listening on audio-only or watching the video, or even toggling between the two,” Spotify said in a statement.
For those countries who haven’t had this feature yet, just hold on and wait for Spotify’s further announcements.
