Warner Bros. is attempting to finalize a deal for an television series based on the Harry Potter franchise, which may potentially show on its online streaming platform HBO Max.
According to sources, each season of the show will be based on one of J.K. Rowling’s seven books, indicating years of fresh take on the popular franchise.
Rowling is also reportedly participating in the creative aspects of the production process, however, she will not be serving as the showrunner for the project, which is now in the early stages of development.
Currently the Box Office Mojo’s Top 5 Best Franchise of all time, the Harry Potter franchise’s kickstarter was 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and ending in Harry and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011, after a decade of exploring fans to the Wizarding World.
The franchise adapted each book and has a total gross of $7.7 billion at box offices around the world.
After more than 20 years since its release, the demand for anything Harry Potter-related is still extremely high. In fact a Harry Potter theme park is scheduled to open in Japan this June 2023. Aside from this, its spin-off movie Fantastic Beasts film series is also anticipated to have its fourth movie. Last February, a video game titled ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ was released.
