Marvel Studios just dropped the teaser trailer for one of their newest titles, The Marvels, and fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) are pumped!

While the trailer does not reveal much about the plot, it showed that this sequel to Captain Marvel is action-packed, comical, and complete with charming characters. We absolutely want to know more and we know you do too. To keep you excited as you wait for the movie’s premiere in November this year, here’s what we’ve gathered so far that you need to know about this highly anticipated movie.

The use of superhero powers gets tricky

Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), and Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) get their powers entangled with each other. Although this isn’t a new concept in the realm of superhero movies because heroes (and even villains) get their powers swapped all the time, what makes our trio’s predicament just a tad more complicated is that their places get swapped whenever any of them use their powers.

Throughout the trailer, we are shown scenes of the girls trading places. From these scenes, we can already anticipate that this mishap will lend itself to some seriously hilarious yet deadly situations.

Animals are perfect additions to any movie; they make for interesting plot developments or add a dash of lightheartedness. In The Marvels, they added a cat! But this isn’t any ordinary cat, it’s Goose. Although Goose looks like a normal orange Tabby Cat, do not be deceived because he is actually an alien life form that only resembles and behaves like a cat. In fact, Goose is a “Flerken” which is one of the most feared intergalactic creatures. He is even the one responsible for scratching Nick Fury’s (Samuel L. Jackson) eye out.

There might be a villain or two

The main antagonist of the movie will be played by Zawe Ashton, who is known for her role in Velvet Buzzsaw. From the trailer, we have yet to find out why she is the villain and what she is battling the heroes against. However, MCU fans were quick to point out that she is seen wielding a weapon similar to the one used by the first Guardians of the Galaxy’s villain, Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). This is a thrilling find as we will soon find out their connection.

In line with Zawe’s new character, we also have another new face to talk about. Prior to the trailer’s release, many MCU fans and K-Drama fans alike were stoked to find out that South Korean actor Park Seo-Joon will be playing a role in the MCU franchise. In the official trailer, we catch a very brief glimpse of him. His appearance does not clarify his role but we can see him leading an army into battle. Whether this will be an army that will aid our trio to victory or be their demise is still a mystery.

The mystery around Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings could become clearer

If we look back on the post-credit scene in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, we will see that Captain Marvel is among the people discussing and trying to figure out the origins of the Ten Rings. And if you are watching the TV show Ms. Marvel, which stars Kamala Khan as the main character, you would know that she has a mysterious bangle that unlocked her powers.

Through some clever sleuthing and quick eyes from MCU fans, many speculate that Kamala’s bangle is connected to the Ten Rings and will be a significant plot driver in the Marvel universe and future films. Some even think that this could be the focus of The Marvels. What do we think? Only time will tell.
