Star Wars is officially back! Even with the recent release of The Mandalorian Season 3, the franchise has not been the most prominent throughout the years – with a lot of its content premiering on Disney’s streaming platform Disney+.

Star Wars Celebration 2023 just wrapped up in Europe, and while a lot of reveals are expected, the biggest shockers came from surprise announcements of new movies being developed. Yes, Star Wars is returning to the big screen since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

SEA Wave has listed down some of the big highlights that went on this year’s Star Wars Celebration.

Ahsoka trailer

The first trailer for Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson as the titular heroine is here, offering fans their first official look on the upcoming Disney+ series. The trailer briefly teases a handful of Star Wars Rebels characters that will be appearing in the mix, including Ezra Bridger and Thrawn.

Three new Star Wars movies on the way

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy reveals three Star Wars movies are officially coming soon. The first one, directed by James Mangold, will tell the Dawn of the Jedi set 25,000 years before the events of the Skywalker Saga.

The second film project directed by Dave Filoni will culminate the conflict introduced by The Mandalorian and other connected series.

And finally, the third film, helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, will see the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker, which will rebuild the New Jedi Order.

Another Disney+ series coming this 2024 is The Acolyte, starring Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae and The Good Place’s Manny Jacinto. The first footage premiered in the convention, with fans cheering for its martial arts-filled set pieces.

New Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny trailer

6 whooping minutes of the upcoming Indiana Jones movie was shown at this year’s Star Wars Celebration, alongside a new trailer for the movie.

At this point, it’s impossible to not get excited over Harrison Ford’s return on the iconic character—which could also be his last.

After Europe, Star Wars Celebration is going to Asia this April 18 to 20, 2025 – on Japan nonetheless! This is exciting news especially with a lot of fans around the region finally getting their due to join the annual Star Wars event.
