In 2020, SEA Wave Pop Culture Magazine launched the SEAtizens initiative as its way of highlighting the inspiring stories of people in Southeast Asia who champion the human spirit by demonstrating courage, ingenuity, generosity and selflessness amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The publication has featured significant human stories around the region, from the Philippines’ Lockdown Cinema Club to Cambodia’s Phare Circus community, from Timor-Leste’s 3D printed face shields to Singapore’s Good Hood SG application. The initiative has not only put these stories to the spotlight, it also recognized the courage and good heart of Southeast Asians – which resulted to SEA Wave relaunching SEAtizens even after the pandemic.

With our new normal slowly taking its shape, SEA Wave is looking to feature more inspiring and heartwarming stories for the SEAtizens initiative.

These stories are vital to SEA Wave’s call for a true #OneSoutheastAsia, that aims to bring our cultures, histories and values together and find a commoness that we can all share and pass to the next generation.

If you or someone you know has a story to tell to the rest of the region, feel free to send us a message at desk@seawavemag.com! We will be featuring your stories alongside some of the region’s best in our SEAtizens section, which you can browse here.
