Mackenyu Maeda, famously known by his screen name Mackenyu Arata or Mackenyu, is coming to the Philippines for the first time! He rose to fame for his role in the film trilogy adaptation of acclaimed anime and manga Chihayafuru (2016) as Wataya Arata, which earned him the 40th Annual Japan Academy Newcomer of the Year Award in 2017.
Mackenyu is known for playing live-action versions of fan favorite anime characters like Okuyasu Nijimura in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (2017), Enishi Yukishiro in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final (2021), Pegasus Seiya in Knights of the Zodiac (2023), and most recently Roanoa Zoro in Netlifx’s One Piece live-action series (2023).
Aside from headlining the Manila Pop Culture Convention from November 17 to 19 at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Mackenyu is also having his own fan meet! Get closer with the One Piece star in the Closer To You: Fun Fan Meet which will be held at SM MOA Arena on November 20.
