An HBO Original documentary executively produced by Daniel Radcliffe about his former stunt double is now available to stream on HBO Max.

David Holmes was a gymnast and stunt double for Daniel Radcliffe in the Harry Potter film series. He had described the experience as “the best job in the world.” Then, he had a life-altering injury in 2009 amidst stunt rehearsals during the filming of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One.

David Holmes: The Boy Who Lived, an HBO Original documentary tells the extraordinary story of David Holmes, following his life before and after the stunt accident that left him paralyzed. The documentary also showcases the unbreakable bond and friendship between Holmes, Radcliffe and other Harry Potter cast members throughout the years.

With the title of the documentary being a reference to one of the names, Harry Potter is known by in the fictional wizarding world, “The Boy Who Lived” is also an apt description for Holmes, who survived a dangerous encounter through the power of love and his strong will and spirit.
