One of Capcom’s biggest video game franchises is being adapted into a Netflix animated series this 2024!

Devil May Cry is an action-adventure game created by Hideki Kamiya and developed by Capcom. The franchise follows the story of half-human, half-demon Dante as he tries to uncover the mystery of who killed his mother and who tainted his brother’s humanity.

The game was first released in 2001 and has since been followed by five sequels. Devil May Cry was so well-received that it was adapted into light novels, comics, manga, and the aforementioned animated series.

The series has been in development since 2018 by producers Adi Shankar and Alex Larson. Shankar stated that they wanted to make one of the best shows on Netflix because they are also fans of the franchise and have worked hard every single day since the project began five years ago.

While the Devil May Cry series is currently in development, other adaptations of Capcom video games already made their debut on Netflix – the live action Resident Evil series which premiered just last year, and the CG animated film Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild which aired last 2021.
