After the success of GMA Network’s historical fantasy drama Maria Clara at Ibarra set during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines, GMA brings us another action-packed historical drama series – Pulang Araw – which will be set during the reign of Imperial Japan in World War II.
At a recent press conference held by the network, Pulang Araw was announced as a new series highlighting the historical hardships, triumphs, and patriotism of the Filipino people during the Japanese occupation. The series will follow the intertwined lives of four childhood friends as war begins to ravage their homeland. Pulang Araw is also said to feature real stories from people who experienced the horrors of the Japanese occupation firsthand.
Pulang Araw will star GMA Network’s brightest Kapuso actors including Primetime Princess Barbie Forteza, First Lady of Primetime Sanya Lopez, Pambansang Ginoo David Licauco, and Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards. The series is directed by Dominic Zapanta, written by Suzette Doctolero and is set to air in 2024.
