In case you missed it, colorful zombie animated series Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead finally released the last three episodes of its first season following a 3-month hiatus.
Zom 100 is a Japanese animated series streaming on Hulu, Netflix, and the anime platform Crunchyroll. It first premiered in July 2023 and was followed by a live action film on Netflix in August of the same year, with both adaptations being highly praised for their vibrant effects that replaced gorey visuals with a mesmerizing pop of color.
Despite the positive audience reception, new episodes of the anime stopped coming out in September 2023 after viewers were left with a suspenseful cliffhanger in the ninth episode. Fans were disappointed but not surprised with the delays, as the series previously released recap episodes and specials to fill in weeks where new episodes failed to make it in time to air.
In the weeks that followed, the series’ official Twitter account posted several statements saying that the release dates of the remaining three episodes are yet to be confirmed. The animation studio behind the series, Bug Films, frequently cited “production reasons” for the delays, leading viewers to speculate on what these reasons were.
Finally, after months of waiting, the last three episodes of season one were released in just the span of two days. Fans rejoiced as the three-part finale was revealed, with episodes 10 to 12 entitled “Hometown of the Dead I,” “Hometown of the Dead II,” and “Hometown of the Dead III.”

As of now, Bug Films has not confirmed a second season for Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. This might be due to the challenges the company is facing with the production of the series. The regular delays and sudden hiatus halted the momentum of the series during its first season, with many other ongoing anime competing for streaming viewership at the time like top anime shows Jujuitsu Kaisen and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
