Now in its 46th year, Singapore’s annual pinnacle performing festival celebrates with the theme “The Anatomy of Performance: They Declare,” an invitation to make space for diverse beliefs and embrace other voices, existences, and geologies. URL TO IRL: SIFA Digital
Organized by the Arts House Limited (AHL) for the National Arts Council (NAC), SIFA 2024 features a multitude of performances, varying from local to international artists, resonating with the unified voices of diverse performers.
As the culmination of the festival’s three-year arc presenting The Anatomy of Performance, writer, editor, and producer Hong Xinyi installed “URL TO IRL: SIFA Digital,” showcasing a selection of digital arts and creative responses from the SIFA website, giving digital explorations new home in real life at Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall Atrium.
Moby Dick
Discover the tale of a whale expedition with a pinch of obsession with the unexplained mysteries of life. The award-winning puppet theater company Plexus Polaire will perform a live adaptation of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick on May 17 and 18.
Witness captivating puppetry and immersive video projections bring to life the unknown depths of the ocean with the expert performances of 7 actors and 50 crafted puppets.
Suara / Oro Rua
Feel the rhythm of Singapore’s pride as music artist Safuan Johari and choreographer Eddie Elliot showcase a collaborative dance performance set in a distant post-anthropocentric future.
Get ready to be amazed at the clash of Singaporean vocalists and dancers from Aotearoa in Suara / Oro Rua from May 24 to 26.
Little SIFA
Here’s a treat for the little ones to spark their creativity and introduce them to the world of the arts. Little SIFA is a new program offering interactive experiences for families, especially children with young hearts and curious minds.
Some of the engaging programs include The Dancer’s Fair by Antigua i Barbuda and Leonardo! A Wonderful Show About A Terrible Monster by Manual Cinema, both scheduled to run from May 24 to May 26.
