This past May 4, Star Wars fans of all ages were able to experience an exciting celebration of Star Wars Day with Fan Force Weekend 2024 at Bonifacio High Street. The event was a collaborative effort between the 501st Legion Philippine Garrison, Fightsaber Philippines, Childman, and Make-A-Wish Philippines to create a memorable event for the fan-favorite sci-fi franchise.

The event began at Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street with a storytelling activity for kids. Cosplayers dressed as various Star Wars characters narrated children’s stories from all eras of Star Wars movies, which was followed by a meet and greet where both children and parents could snap pictures with Darth Vader, Han Solo, The Mandalorian and Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion Philippine Garrison.

Donations for Make-A-Wish Philippines were also encouraged throughout the event, as cosplayers and members of the participating groups carried placards and signages with information about the organization and its cause. “Star Wars is all about hope, it gives them determination for whatever problems they may face,” shared Lawrence Aliwalas, commanding officer of the 501st Legion Philippine Garrison.

The celebration continued with a parade of cosplayers and Star Wars fans across Bonifacio High Street, with fans bringing along their lightsabers and lifting them in the air to triumphantly commemorate Star Wars Day. Performers from FightSaber Philippines also put on a show, with an exhibition of their lightsaber skills for the fans.
Fan Force Weekend concluded with a Star Wars Quiz Night at the 3rd floor of Fully Booked, BGC, which saw participants answering questions spanning the Star Wars universe. Prizes for the Quiz Night included a special lightsaber from Saber Source, Star Wars books, and other merchandise from the beloved franchise.
