Beginning construction in 2022, Minion Land was developed to be the new themed zone of Universal Studios Singapore (USS) in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS). As part of RWS’ post-pandemic tourism recovery plans, Minion Land was set to replace the previous Madagascar area and draw more guests with the popular film franchise.
At the time, USS only had Minion Mart as its Minion-themed area, which sold Despicable Me merch items and toys for visitors. As plans for the new zone solidified, a groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 26, 2022, with fun performances by our overall-wearing friends to officially welcome the Minions in USS.
And with the upcoming release of Despicable Me 4 this July, USS has cranked up its Minion-themed activities with larger-than-life inflatables of Mega Minions and the Gru family, meet-and-greets with your favorite Minions, and a first ever Minion flash mob. A new show is also set to premiere, following the Anti-Villain League (AVL) as they test out their new Mega technology on the visitors of USS. But when disaster strikes, it’s up to AVL, and Minions Kevin and Stuart, to save the day. Of course, this Minion celebration wouldn’t be complete without exclusive merch and treats!
While Minion Land is nearing its final stage of development, fans are excited for what it might bring. The main attraction will be Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, an immersive motion-simulator 3D ride which travels to Gru’s laboratory, where it turns riders into Minions. The upcoming zone is also said to house a world first exclusive ride to USS, but aside from that, details have not been announced about other rides and attractions, letting our imaginations run wild on what Minion Land might bring.
