Love has no limits, especially when it comes to our adorable stray dogs or asong pinoy. Widely known as aspins, stray dogs in the Philippines embody resilience, unwavering loyalty, companionship, and warmth. In celebration of our canine companions, the Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries Department of Cebu City is bringing Asong Pinoy Day this June 30 at the Cebu IT Park. The event is in partnership with the Island Rescue Organization (IRO) and aims to showcase the charm, beauty, and brilliance of aspins.

Cebu City has been shining a spotlight for aspins to shine since 2010 through the Asong Pinoy Day, and Cebuanos have made it a part of their lives to dedicate the month of June to show their love to Filipino dogs. This 2024, the event will include both online and onsite contests and activities. To take part in the online competition, participants must share their aspin adoption story and write a poem for their dogs. As for the onsite competition, participants should go to Cebu IT Park and dress their dogs to join the Best Looking Asong Pinoy, Best Dress Asong Pinoy, and Asong Pinoy Next Top Model categories. Aside from these activities, the one-day event will also have a fun run for people and their canine friends, as well as free veterinary services such as anti-rabies vaccination, pet microchipping, vitamin supplementation, and consultation. The event also encourages people to join the heartfelt mission of providing aspins safe havens and loving them as part of the Filipino families through their pet adoption display.
