As the final battle between All for One and One for All commences in the anime, the manga approaches its finale with Chapter 430, which will be published on August 5, 2024.
My Hero Academia follows the story of the powerless boy, Izuku Midoriya (aka Deku), in his journey to realize his dream of becoming a superhero in a prestigious superhero academy.
After a decade-long run, manga artist Kohei Horikoshi is set to wrap up his series, showing the aftermath of the climactic battle and marking the end of an era for the shounen superhero battle manga.
Horikoshi’s message about My Hero Academia ending in 5 chapters (translated by me):
Sorry for taking a two week break! I had some schedules overlap each other like a mille feuille! This series will end in 5 chapters.

Horikoshi wrote a letter published in Shonen Jump confirming the end of the series, saying, “There are just five chapters left until the manga’s end. Some might think, ‘There’s still five chapters to go?!’ while others may think, ‘Just five chapters left?!’ but I’ll do my best to make sure both camps enjoy these last five chapters with Deku and the others…It was a rocky road, but I was able to draw Deku and his friends for nearly 10 years thanks to everyone who kept on reading. It was a dream. Thank you so much!”
My Hero Academia has taken the world by storm since its first chapter released in 2014, and in the decade since, the series has reached both critical and commercial success, earning multiple Best Manga wins and citations from award giving bodies like the Kodansha Manga Awards, Sugoi Japan Award, Japan Expo Awards and Harvey Awards. Its most recent achievement was selling 100 million copies by April 2024, forever enshrining it alongside the likes of classic manga that have passed the threshold like Kingdom, Hajime no Ippo and One Piece.
The anime adaptation is currently covering the Final Act Arc in Season 7, adapting 40 chapters from the manga across 21 episodes. While there’s no news yet about Season 8, it is anticipated to be the final season of the anime, as fans look forward to the series’ climax and conclusion.
