Art is a subject that’s often perplexing to the general public. People tend to think about art as it takes shape in various forms, be it a painting, a sculpture, or even a photo. But art also exists in moments that pass us by and move us, evoking strong emotions from just a fleeting glance.
This year, ArtMoments Jakarta returns with its anticipated art fair, with the goal of making art accessible for everyone. The event boasts a lineup of almost 50 national and international art galleries. Expect a wide selection of artworks for collectors, unique pieces that will inspire artists and enthusiasts, and curated art tours that will serve as an entry point for curious visitors who want to discover the local and international art scene.
Following the theme of “Renewal,” ArtMoments Jakarta 2024 aims to reflect the ever-changing art ecosystem of Indonesia and to celebrate all forms of transformation and growth, whether personal, social, environmental, artistic or technological, which are all reflected within the artworks, and even within the exhibition space itself, which uses recycled materials for exhibitor booths and eco-friendly lighting throughout the area.
The art fair will also feature thought-provoking discussions led by experts, artists, and curators such as “The Challenge of Media Art Ownership,” “The Relevance of Curatorial Direction in Building Your Art Collection,” “Create Legacy with Your Art Collection,” “Portrait of S. Sudjojono,” “Up Close and Personal,” “The Joy and Risk of Art Collecting,” and “RENEWAL: Art Today and in the Future.”
Now on its seventh edition, ArtMoments Jakarta continues to experience steady growth, along with the growth of the local art scene in the country. Last year’s event gathered a total of 20,000 visitors both on-ground and online, with 30 curated galleries showcasing the best that the art world has to offer.
In an interview, ArtMoments co-founder and fair director Sendy Widjaja said, “We want to make a platform that can expose our artists to a global set of eyes, connecting Indonesian artists to Western markets, to prestigious art scenes like the New York art society. But also bring some of that global art here, for locals to easily view.”
