Fans are highly anticipating the rerun of Bar Boys: A New Musical, as it returns for a limited five-week run. Staged by Barefoot Theatre Collaborative, the production is set to run at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati.
Lead stars Benedix Ramos (Erik), Alex Diaz (Chris), Jerom Canlas (Torran), Omar Uddin (Josh), and Sheila Francisco (Justice Hernandez) are all reprising their roles, so if you’re one of the people who missed this musical’s initial run, then this is your chance to catch it live!
Bar Boys: A New Musical is adapted from the 2017 Cinemalaya film by Kip F. Oebanda, with book and lyrics by Pat Valera, composition by Myke Solomon, and direction by Valera and Mikko Angeles. The musical follows four friends and their journey to become lawyers as they deal with academic pressure, conflicts of love, and challenges in life.
Director Pat Valera shared his experience growing up with a lawyer and law professor in the family, and how it inspired him to adapt the musical. “It can not just address what happens in law school, but it should also mirror what is happening in society and what Filipinos are going through, ” he stated in a video from Barefoot Theatre Collective.
Bar Boys: A New Musical will run until November 3, so get your tickets now at bit.ly/barboystickets!
