The past weekend was a blast for Indonesian fans of Japanese culture as they celebrated the Anime Festival Asia 2025. Held from June 6 to June 8, 2025 at the Jakarta Convention Center, the 3-day event featured lots of activities, including Exhibition Zones, Stage Performances, AniSong Concert, and a Special Meet & Greet for all the fans.
The Exhibition Zone showcased everything you need to know about the Japanese Pop Culture. AFA’s usual segments such as Akiba Town, Akiba Stage, Creators Hub, Cosplay Hub, Food Street, GameOn, and their newest Community Hub were all present for guests to enjoy.
Over 27 invited exhibitors filled Akiba Town where you can shop and avail merchandise and gashapons of Hatsune Miku, Bandai Namco, Manga Plus and more. Of course, the event wasn’t just for anime fans! It also attracted food connoisseurs with the wide range of available Japanese snacks and bites at the Food Street. The GameOn area was also available for friendly play as they presented the latest editions of famous and beloved games.
At the Akiba Stage, various DJs, idols, and bands showcased their talents━building up excitement in the crowd right before in time for the most anticipated performances of the special guests. JKT48, KARIN, and Lienel brought the energy, hyping the whole hall with their exceptional and heart-capturing performances. Celebrity cosplayers like BaoBao, Thames Malerose, Weian Vann and Yingtze were also invited to meet and greet their fans at the Cosplay Hub. Lastly, their newest Community Hub hosted fun group activities for fans to connect and enjoy together.
The Day Stage held talk shows, exclusive previews, and never-before-seen contents from featured Japanese singers, voice actors and actresses━such as Sally Amaki, Kazuki Ura (voice of Shiki Ichinose), Shion Wakayama (voice of Momo Ayase), and Kensho Ono (voice of Harold W. Lucraft)━virtual singers like KAF and RIM, and Producer Takanori Matsuoka.
Fans were also able to sing out loud to their favorite Japanese hits at the AniSong Music Festival alongside a superb lineup starting with Sally Amaki, Daoko, DEMONDICE, Eir Aoi, KAF, Liyuu, TeddyLoid, and towana from fhána. And finally, Studio Ghibli lovers immersed themselves in the original soundtracks of their beloved Studio Ghibli films, brought to life by the original cast members and TOKYO ASIA Orchestra.
The festival served as a memorable event for all Japanese pop culture fans who came to explore more of Japan’s trends and showcase everything they know from the niche fandoms to the most iconic highlights of Japan’s pop culture and media.
