The updates keep swinging forward for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, with new set photos taken by fans, and two teasers back-to-back released by Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. As Peter attempts to leave his Spider-Man persona behind, a new threat arises that reels him back into the role of our favorite web-slinging hero.
The first teaser for Brand New Day was posted on August 1—Spider-Man Day—a fitting marketing tactic that commemorates the debut of Spider-Man in comics past as it heralds his future. The teaser shows a sneak peek of the new Spider-Man costume, going back to basics as it does away with the nanotechnological additions that we’ve seen from past movies.
Just a day after the first teaser, Sony Pictures released a new one, showing Tom Holland getting ready for action. We also get a better look at the costume, with a pattern more reminiscent of Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s costumes from previous iterations of the character.
Shortly after the teasers, we got our first real look at Spider-Man in action. It’s a well-known fact that recent Spider-Man films used CGI to recreate scenes because of the pandemic. Now that production is back in full swing, we are back to old school stunts. Fans in Glasgow were treated to an open-set shoot featuring Spider-Man swinging across the city, buildings go up in flames, and cars speed through the streets.
As the updates for the shoot ramp up, fans are getting equally excited for the announcement of cast members joining the film: Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprise their roles as MJ and Ned respectively, while other MCU heroes join in on the action including Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / Punisher, Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock / Daredevil, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Hulk. New cast members also include Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Michael Mando, and more yet to be announced.
