When it comes to cozy online games, most players would know Animal Crossing or Strawdew Valley. This 2026, a new contender rises from the ranks to take the genre by storm. Heartopia is a mobile game developed by XD Inc., where players can create their characters, customize their outfits, build their dream home, and hang out with friends. Compared to MOBAs like Honor of Kings or Mobile Legends Bang-Bang, this game is for the people who just want a chill time with friends.
Join us as we take a look at why this slow-life simulation game is rising in popularity!
Cozy Gameplay
One way to describe Heartopia is a mashup of The Sims, Animal Crossing, and other sandbox games like Growtopia. Mix all that and make it into an online game and you have Heartopia.
The controls are quite easy to navigate and the first few quests are actually the tutorial itself like any simulation game you’d play of this caliber. You have the joystick at the lower left while actions are on the lower right alongside some tools. You also get a backpack with a pretty big capacity, so hoarders can definitely enjoy collecting items as they play.
After the tutorial, players can enjoy quests at their own pace, explore their surroundings, or just chill and decorate your home. There are lots of things to do, and the game does not rush you through them. Just play how you want, and the game rewards you for it.
Map Exploration

The map is still quite small in a tiny island where several players have homes situated around the town center. Despite the limited exploration, players will never get bored though since the scenery changes with the time on the clock and the quests are quite easy to do and get to. The game provides a free motorcycle and car if you complete the login dates so travelling is easy. You can choose to walk, or ride in style, and it’s also easy to navigate where you want to go since there’s a pin location option for the map like other open world games.
A Great Hangout for the Long Distance Besties

We cannot begin to express how fun it is to customize your own home and character. For the house customization, players can either use a small tablet to just move things around or the single build option to edit the whole layout of your home. Mind you, it does take a few acorn coins to build here so you better be selling anything you can to Albert, the resident salesman.
For fashion customization, the clothing options are cute, but you do still need in-game money to purchase them or win them from the themed-gacha that the game provides. The choices are still a little limited since you do have to chance your preferred designs at the boutique, but it’s worth the wait and the grind.
Hobbies and Quests Make the Game

To spice things up, Heartopia gives you daily quests from the townspeople to earn money and gain hobby experience. These are also a great way to grind for materials needed for Hobbies—the core activities of the game like Cooking, Fishing, Birdwatching, Insect Catching, Dog and Cat Caring—which you can do solo or with friends. Players can also use the materials to make their own furniture and sell them.
Aside from these, there are Dreams you can unlock, which are activities similar to Hobbies. Currently there are three dreams that can be unlocked by completing different activities like puzzle solving, publishing your writing, purchasing a specific item.
All in all, Heartopia ticks all the boxes that makes a simulation game fun and engaging. It’s never a dull moment and it can be played with friends to make it even more enjoyable.
The game is available on Steam and on mobile, but it’s still in its early stages so stay tuned for more updates.
