Markiplier’s directorial debut film is coming to Southeast Asian theaters!

Mark Fischbach aka Markiplier is a content creator best known for “Let’s Play” type of videos. He has since amassed over 32.2M YouTube subscribers and directed interactive films such as A Heist with Markiplier and In Space with Markiplier.

Fischbach’s latest film project is a science fiction horror film based on the 2022 video game Iron Lung by David Szymanski. First announced in April 2023, the film debuted this year earning over $17 million in the US, earning the top spot at the box office for its premiere week.

Set in the future after all stars and planets have mysteriously vanished, Iron Lung follows Simon (Fischbach), a convict tasked with locating a barren moon to take photos of the various anomalies within them. The film takes on a claustrophobic nature when Simon gets stranded, testing his psyche through limited visibility and jumpscares of eldritch proportions.

In a recent stream, Markplier expressed his excitement about Iron Lung being the best-selling film in the US. He also announced that the film is set to show in theaters across Southeast Asia, with screenings currently in talks for Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Timor Leste. The whole region will be getting a chance to see Iron Lung, and possibly more including Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea.
