It’s been 14 years since we saw the Mockingjay free the people of Panem from the oppressive, totalitarian dictatorship depicted in Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games.
The popular book series followed Katniss Everdeen, as she participated in the Hunger Games and became the symbol of the rebellion against President Coriolanus Snow’s regime. It spawned four films, before the addition of two prequels: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Sunrise on the Reaping.
The fifth film in the franchise, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, focused on Snow and his participation in the Hunger Games as a mentor for the tribute Lucy Gray Bird. We get a glimpse of his humanity, and how his ambition led him to become the villain we know and love to hate.
In line with the film’s digital release, Lionsgate Pictures revealed an official look-back video for The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The clip features the most iconic scenes that shaped Coriolanus Snow to become the ruthless dictator of Panem.
The video was released a week before the one-year anniversary of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping—the fifth book in the series and the newest film slated for release this November 2026.
