Agak Laen Surpasses Avengers Endgame Record in Indonesia

Local cinema triumphs in Indonesian!

As of this March, the second film in the Agak Laen film franchise—Agak Laen: Menyala Pantikui!—reached 10,980,933 viewers based on the announcement on the official Instagram page of the film, surpassing Avengers: Endgame which had 10,976,338 viewers since its release.

Agak Laen (A Little Bit Different) is a comedy-horror franchise from Indonesian film studio, Imajinari, first premiering in 2024, where it became the highest-grossing Indonesian film of the year, and the second highest-grossing Indonesian film of all-time before being overtaken by Jumbo. It’s sequel, Agak Laen: Menyala Pantikui!, is an independent story, following Detectives Bene, Boris, Jegel, and Oki as they try to redeem themselves from a failed mission by infiltrating a nursing home to find the murderer of the mayor’s son. The film has the four iconic actors Bene Dion Rajagukguk, Oki Rengga, Indra Jegel, and Boris Bokir returning for another laughtrip that viewers won’t forget. A rumored third film is also in the works for 2027, but has not been confirmed yet.

As of 2026, the film has surpassed the achievement of its predecessor with a record breaking number of viewers, making it the highest-grossing Indonesian film of all time.
