Watch these Oreos goin’ hooligan! The first-ever collaboration between Oreo and K-pop boy group BTS is here: a Hotteok-inspired cookie filled with South Korean heritage and BTS’ unique flair.
Hotteok is a popular South Korean street food treat—a pancake filled with brown sugar, cinnamon, and various nuts, giving it a sweet taste. The collaboration bridges Korean culture and Oreo’s globally inclusive goal of bringing people together through the power of playfulness. The cookie is in BTS’ signature purple color, with a brown sugar pancake-inspired cream based on hotteok.
“For Oreo to be the first snacking brand we’ve collaborated with globally is a huge honor. We ate them as kids, we eat them in the studio, and now Oreo is helping us share a taste of home with the world,” BTS said in a statement.
The limited-edition cookies feature 13 custom designs inspired by the boyband members, their signature light stick, and messages dedicated to fans. The collab also coincides with BTS’ 13th anniversary this June. The cookies are available in over 80 countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam for Southeast Asia. The collaboration also allows fans to send “love letters” to the boyband through a QR code provided in the packaging to encourage fan interactions.
To celebrate the collaboration, limited-time pop-ups will also be available in select locations around the world, like the FairPrice Xtra outlet at VivoCity in Singapore, Sunway Pyramid in Malaysia, and more to be announced.
