Vietnam National Television launches a new wildlife-focused broadcast channel!
Con Dao National Park is a natural reserve found on Con Dao Island, in Ba Ria–Vung Tau province in coastal southeastern Vietnam. Recognized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the park is also one of three national parks included in the international Green List of protected areas. It’s also one of the 36 national parks in Vietnam.
Known by the title of “Pearl Island” for its pristine forest and marine ecosystem, the island has been the focus of conservation efforts for the last two decades, led by various groups, like the Con Dao National Park Management Board and the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The park boasts over 1,077 species of vascular plants, 354 species of corals, 85 species of birds, 50 species of reptiles, and 25 species of mammals, including the endemic Con Son giant squirrel.
With the goal of bringing Con Dao Park’s natural views to the public, the Vietnam National Television (VTV) launched its first-ever wildlife broadcast channel, Wild Live. The live video broadcast utilized specialized cameras, monitoring cameras, and camera traps installed across islands within Con Dao National Park, including Hon Bay Canh, Hon Trung, Hon Tre Lon, and Hon Tre Nho, aiming to capture the local wildlife in various states of their daily lives. From seeing sea turtles travel to their egg-laying spot to sea birds migrating, Vietnam’s first 24/7 wildlife channel aims to capture it all. There will also be live commentary and analysis from experts from time to time during the program.
“For many years, we have produced live news broadcasts, live football coverage and live coverage of countless major events. But this is the first time we have ever broadcast wildlife live. We hope to bring nature closer to the public, giving audiences the opportunity to experience, observe and gain a deeper understanding of our country’s remarkable natural heritage. In doing so, we also hope to foster a stronger commitment to environmental protection,” said Nguyen Thu Ha, head of VTV’s Education and Science Department during the launch.
Catch Wild Live from 12:30 AM to 2:30 PM starting on June 25 and running until June 30 on VTVgo and VTV’s digital platforms.
