Shoppers, get ready for a new seafront mall as The Waterfront Shoppes is set to open this September!

The mall is part of IJM Land’s plan to create an integrated waterfront enclave called The Light Waterfront Penang—a residential neighborhood where commercial, hospitality, leisure, and retail spaces meet.

Like the name suggests, The Waterfront Shoppes is set to be the first waterfront mall in the island. The massive shopping landmark will cover 1.5 million sq ft overlooking Penang’s gorgeous coast, with over 300 retail outlets to be distributed among four levels, including artisanal cafes, fashion boutiques, flagship stores, and more.

One of the mall’s main attractions is called the Rodeo Drive Strip–a Beverly Hills-inspired retail shopping street. Alongside this is a 45,000 sq ft cinema complex, with a 30,000 sq ft open-concept heritage food hall where you get to taste authentic Penang flavors.

Aside from the mall, The Light Waterfront Penang also saw the construction of key components like the Merione Residences and the Penang Waterfront Convention Centre in 2025, as well as The Light Exchange Office Suites which opened earlier this year. Other key milestones slated for rollout are hotels by JdV by Hyatt and Galaxy Minyoun, which are in development and are set to open this year.

As it stands, The Light Waterfront Penang is set to redefine the coastline with multiple developments that offer a connected way of living.
