The underground pulse of Bangkok is getting a traditional makeover.
Dudesweet, the iconic Thai cultural collective that has been shaking up the scene since 2002, is once again defying the mainstream. Known for mobilizing the underground and stripping away the pretenses of corporate music media, the group is now spearheading THAIBEATS—a bold, collaborative mission to thrust Thailand’s electronic music landscape into the global spotlight.
In an ambitious move supported by the Department of Cultural Promotion and the Ministry of Culture, THAIBEATS launched a nationwide hunt for producers, songwriters, and DJs. The goal? To bridge the gap between Thailand’s storied traditional sounds and the high-energy demands of modern electronic dance music.
Following a rigorous open call, the project has officially unveiled its 12 standout artists—a cohort selected for their ability to fuse the old-world soul of Thai music with cutting-edge beats. Each winner is set to receive 32,000 baht per track, professional project consultation, and, perhaps most importantly, a feature on the upcoming THAIBEATS Vinyl Compilation album. Beyond the studio, these artists will gain international distribution, slots at exclusive showcase events, and dedicated PR backing across major media channels.
The winners’ reveal is just the beginning. To celebrate this landmark collaboration, THAIBEATS is rolling out a series of events including What’s Next For Thai Eletronic Music Scene Talk & Panel Discussion on August 20 at Speakerbox Livehouse, Thonglor, and a Party & Showcase on August 21 at Melt Livehouse on Cloud 11 and August 22 at The One in Khaosan Road.
