Malaysian Animated Blockbuster “BoBoiBoy Movie 2” Comes To Netflix

Looking for an entertaining and action-packed movie with beautiful visuals? Look no further because the Malaysian hit animated film BoBoiBoy Movie 2 is available for streaming on Netflix in Southeast Asia and is sure to satisfy your action adventure cravings.

Since its television premiere in 2011, Boboiboy has expanded into a Malaysian cross-media darling, with a multi-season TV show, two film adaptations, several comic book series tie-ins and a popular trading card game. At its heart, the Boboiboy franchise celebrates Malaysian identity by featuring multi-racial influences, characters and culture.

The latest film installment in the franchise, BoBoiBoy Movie 2 follows the titular character, Boboiboy, as he and his friends fight the villainous alien Retak’ka and his plot to dominate the galaxy. With a team of homegrown teenage superheroes at the forefront, the film is a fun space romp that is well-loved by Malaysians of all ages, and can be appreciated by people from different countries and cultures.

Initially premiering in 2019, BoBoiBoy Movie 2, was the first Malaysian film to be released simultaneously in five countries (Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore and Vietnam), drawing in a total of 2.5 million viewers to movie theaters worldwide and earning RM30 million ($9.77 million), making it one of the highest grossing Malaysian films of all-time.

The film has also been nominated and won several prestigious local and international awards, including Best Animated Film nominations at the 2020 Malaysia Film Festival, New York Animation Film Awards, and Florence Film Awards in Italy. It was also recognized with the Best Poster and Best Trailer Awards at the Laurus Filem Festival in Russia this year.
