One of the notable filmmakers in the industry, Adolfo B. Alix Jr will be holding an online filmmaking class this July!
Fortunately for aspiring filmmakers, you can now learn the creative process of filmmaking with the seasoned director Adolfo Alix Jr. He will be conducting an online filmmaking class starting July 2020. He’s excited to share his first love, which is being a storyteller through film to young and aspiring filmmakers by his second love, mentoring and teaching!
The online filmmaking class will be composed of ten sessions via zoom and will focus on a variety of topics on the directorial process of filmmaking such as directorial collaborations and conventions, visual storytelling, directing actors and other techniques and tools of the art and craft of directing. The online filmmaking session will also include film viewing and will have guest panelists to help him share knowledge in filmmaking.
“It will be a mix of the basic principles and what I learned through the years while I do my own films. I hope to share insights about the process. That is what’s good with the arts – know the rules first before breaking them. The art of directing has evolved, and I hope to give my own perspective about it.”, shares Direk Adolfo Alix Jr.
Direk Adolf started as a scriptwriter for films and television after graduating Magna cum laude in the degree Mass Communication at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. His films which he treats as his own children are all memorable for him but his film, Adela, holds a special place in his heart because of his working experience with the late Anita Linda and the story which holds truth and relevance up until today’s time. Adolfo Alix Jr has since been receiving both local and international attention, including in film festivals such as Cannes, Toronto, Rotterdam, Busan, Warsaw and Mar del Plata. His first film as a director, Donsol was a finalist in the 2006 Cinemalaya festival and was the Philippines’ official entry for the Academy awards in the Foreign Language film category.
With his expertise, Direk Adolfo Alix Jr. has been getting a lot of requests for talks and workshops on filmmaking, and now that we are transitioning to the new normal, he believes that he can give mor focus on sharing his knowledge to other aspiring filmmakers. He’s excited to conduct his first virtual filmmaking class and is looking forward to how the interaction will be given that the classes are conducted online.
His passion for film and storytelling has been his first love as it gives him a “natural high”. Now, he hopes to share what he learned, and what made him succeed in the film industry to young ad aspiring filmmakers who are also passionate about storytelling through film.
